How do you replace the brake light switch on a 1996 Acura Integra?

My brake lights are out. Peeking under the dash, the stop light switch is wedged in an impossibly tight location. I can't even reach the plug at the back to test the connections or switch. To remove the switch you have to unscrew it, which requires unplugging it, which is impossible. Don't tell me I have to remove the steering column to the left, or the main fuse box to the right!|||I found the following at:

To replace a stoplight switch, first determine what type of switch you have.

If you have an electrical switch mounted to the brake pedal in the passenger compartment:

Unscrew the switch.

Unplug the wires.

Replace with a new switch. Adjust as needed.

Plug the wires back in.

If you have a hydraulic pressure switch that is mounted in the brake master cylinder: check the brake fluid level

Mark and disconnect the wires.

Unscrew the switch.

Screw the replacement switch in.

Reconnect the wires.|||Mechanics rule - if its in the way, remove it.
